Sometimes, we show love by allowing our children to do something they are excited about, but we really do not want to do. Going to spend, literally, hours in line waiting to see Troy Landry and his sons was not something my husband or myself wanted to do, but I am so very thankful my oldest children (young adults) were able to go. I am also grateful that my sweet husband, their father, waited for three hours so that they could meet Troy Landry. He spent time with his kids doing what they wanted to do and made a memory that will last them for a long time.
Troy Landry is on the hit show Swamp People. The show comes on Thursday nights on the History channel. It is a reality show about Cajun families who hunt alligators in the swamps of Louisiana. Alligator hunting season is only open 30 days a year. It is an extremely dangerous but exciting job which is why I believe my oldest two children enjoy watching it.
The other reason my children enjoy watching the show is due to living in the New Orleans area for six years and actually getting to know some Cajuns. They are so passionate about their families and their heritage. Troy Landry has a big table where his family gathers to eat his freshly caught shrimp and gator. Before eating, he bows his head and gives thanks to God. As a Christian, I am thankful that he is willing to thank God on National T.V. when in this day and time it is really frowned on. When I was growing up, I saw an incident of what an alligator is capable of doing. So, I really do not enjoy watching anything that has to do with alligators, but I appreciate that this man works hard for a living, lives a simple life, and thanks God for everything. Maybe, he could open up a Cajun restaurant. I would love to eat his fried Shrimp Poboys or his Gumbo.
