At Friends Restaurant in Madisonville, LA, you can sit out on the deck and look over the water.

We were sitting on the deck at FRIENDS RESTAURANT  in Madisonville, LA.  We enjoyed the GREAT, PEACEFUL, and RELAXING views, family, and food.

If you are ever in Louisiana, you have to check out another family favorite restaurant located in Madisonville, LouisianaSometimes as a family we need to get away even if it is for a day.  Enjoying family, food, and the beauty God has created helps us focus on the important things in life.  Friends Restaurant overlooks the Tchefuncte River.  Not only are views spectacular, but the food is truly delicious.  They serve New Orleans Cajun seafood at its best.  Madisonville is located on the Northshore of New Orleans.  It is about a 30-40 minute drive from New Orleans. This restaurant was hit hard by Katrina but has come back better than ever.  After eating there recently, we were not only impressed with the new menu but the wonderful flavors of the food.  I have eaten in several restaurants in New Orleans and my opinion is that the food at Friends is just as good.  The advantage of eating at Friends is getting to sit out on the back deck and take in all the beautiful views.

The back porch at Friends Restaurant in Madisonville.  They have misters everywhere to keep you cool.  It was a hot day, but we had a great breeze from the water and the mister blowing on us.  We were very comfortable sitting outside.

Friends in Mandeville, LA

I have never had sweet potato hush puppies until eating them at Friends.  I am now a huge fan of sweet potato hush puppies.  I cannot wait to try these at home.  I love sweet potatoes and I love hush puppies. The combination of the two foods was mouth-watering.

My husband ate this Water Street BBQ Shrimp.  The grits were fried which was a new way of eating them for me. The sauce was similar to the crab appetizer which was a spicy butter sauce.  It was extremely tasty.

My daughter had the shrimp tacos which were also very good.

This is my 15-year-old son’s all time favorite dish from any place we have ever eaten.  He loved it.  This is one dish where he did not complain in a couple of hours after eating it that he was hungry.  It was a huge piece of fried chicken breast on top of a large portion of Jambalaya covered with lots of seafood Gumbo.  It was as tasty as it looks.  This dish was called Jack-Leg Chicken.

Everyone was full but we had to get some famous New Orleans Bread Pudding while in Louisiana.  We were just getting one dessert for everyone to have a taste but my kids talked me into both the White Chocolate Bread Pudding, which is my favorite dessert, (I did an earlier post on my favorite White Chocolate Bread Pudding Recipe) and the Cinnamon Roll Bread Pudding.   The Cinnamon Roll Bread Pudding was so delicious we could not make up our minds which one we liked the best.  A great problem to have.

I pray each of my Posts will bring Glory to God.  I love hearing from you.  Please leave a comment and subscribe on the homepage for e-mail updates of new posts.
