Prayer Before Football Games

Prayer Before My Son's Football Game http://recipesforourdailybread.com/2012/11/15/the-national-anthem-and-prayer-before-my-sons-football-game/

Why I love to remember God before each football game.

Did you know that the first English language Bible printed in America was printed by Congress in 1782 specifically for use in our schools?  Did you know the

United States Capital was the largest Church in the U.S. with over 2000 people every week in 1857?  Please watch this brief video about the history of The Founding Fathers of America and our U.S. Capital.  I guarantee you will find out things about our history you were never taught.  Every American should know our history.

If you have followed my blog, you know that my son Casey plays highschool football for his Christian school in Conway, AR.   His highschool football team has not only made the playoffs but won their first ever playoff game.  This week they will be playing their second playoff game.  Congratulations to the Conway Christian Eagles lead by Coach Carter!  Go Eagles this Friday night!

As I was standing and participating in last week’s National Anthem and Prayer before his football game, I was thinking about all the schools who do not get a chance to have this privilege.  It is not just tradition to take part in these activities before a football game.  It is showing respect to God and our country, The United States of America. If you live in America, we should all thank our veterans who fought for us to have the freedom to say the Pledge of Allegiance(which mentions God’s name), The National Anthem (which was written to honor our country and God, see last verse below), and even Pray before a football game.  I am very grateful and very thankful to every Veteran and every Military person who is currently serving our country.

Casey Football Picture Fall 2011

This past August I started writing a post on the pros and cons of Homeschool, Private Christian School, and Public School.  You may know I have 5 children.  I currently have children in Homeschool, Private Christian School, Public School, and College.  Each one of my children have been schooled in at least two of these forms of education.  My oldest daughter started kindergarten in 1996 and my youngest child should graduate highschool in 2020.  I will have 24 years experience of schooling my children.  Because of this experiece, I am aware of the many pros and cons of Homeschooled, Private Christian School, and Public School.  My thoughts on different types of education turned out to be far too long for a post so I decided not to add it. However, the most important thing I have learned is that all forms of education have both pros and cons.  You have to pray about schooling each child every year to make the best decision for their needs going into the current year.  What is best for each child and the family will change from year to year.

One main advantage of a Christian School is we still have the Freedom of Religion that our founding fathers intended us to have and that our Military fought and many died for us.  We still get to Stand Proud at highschool football games and Say The Pledge (which mentions God), The National Anthem (which was written to honor our country and God, see last verse below) and Bow Our Heads to God.  Teachers in Christian schools are encouraged to pray with children often.  I know they pray before each day and before tests.  When we take God and The 10 Commandments out of our schools, we have no foundation for right and wrong.  Crime has definitely increased not only in schools but in our country since God and The 10 Commandments were taken out of schools.  When children do not learn a foundation for right and wrong, we end up with more crime, violence, drug abuse, alcohol abuse, divorces, stealing, sexual abuse, and much more.

I am NOT wanting to force others to worship God.  Christianity is all about having love and patience for others.  No one should be forced to pray or say the Pledge, the National Anthem, or anything else.  I know there are all kinds of religions in America, but just as English is still our native language, America was founded on the principles of the Bible (watch the above VIDEO). There has to be a way where we can still have public schools who offer the option for students to learn about God in the classes they choose to take.  In other words, students need a choice to take Bible based classes since our country is based on the foundation of the Bible and always has been. This would be easy to do in the upper grades where children have options for different classes. This is so important since, for most people, the option for a private Christian school is not affordable. Students need a place, a separate room, where they can have an option to take part in The Pledge, National Anthem, and Pray before the start of each day without offending others.

This month is all about being Thankful as we celebrate Thanksgiving Day.  I am thankful for our Founding Fathers who believed that God should be not only in our schools but the foundation of teaching our children.  I am also thankful that at my sons playoff football game this week, my family can honor God and our country with The National Anthem and Prayer.  Go Eagles Go!!

If you did not watch the link at the top of this page to the VIDEO about our Founding Fathers and the U.S. Capitol, please do so.  I know the verses of The National Anthem which we are all familiar with does not mention God, but have you ever heard the last verse?

Then conquer we must, when our cause is just,
And this be our motto: “In God is our trust”
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave

This post was written from my heart and are just my thoughts and opinions.  This is not my normal post about our family’s favorite recipe or our family favorite things to do but it is a more serious post.  I am not asking you to agree with me just to think about this. I would love to hear your opinion even if you do not agree with me.  Please comment!!!!!

I pray each of my Posts will bring Glory to God.  I love hearing from you.  Please leave a comment and subscribe on the homepage for e-mail updates of new posts.
