Suspense, mystery, surprises, and romance all set in the era of Jane Austen…what could be better? All of those and more are found in Julie Klassen’s new novel The Tutor’s Daughter. Emma Smallwood accompanies her father to his new residence at Ebbington Manor where he will tutor the youngest two sons of a baronet. The problem? The eldest two sons once studied at Emma’s father’s boarding school, one being her trusted friend and the other her archenemy. When someone starts sneaking into her room and leaving threatening signs, Emma strives to figure out who is responsible and who she can trust.
Like all of Julie Klassen’s books, I thoroughly enjoyed The Tutor’s Daughter. Being a huge Jane Austen fan, I loved the setting and time period of this novel. If I had a choice, I would love to live in this era. The only problem would be the strong distinction between classes. With Emma being the poor daughter of a tutor, will she be able to find love with a baronet’s son? Well, you’ll just have to read the book to find out!
