Museum of Discovery in Little Rock

The Museum of Discovery in Little Rock has a special featured exhibit call Grossology.  All of the males in my family just had to go see it.  Grossology is an exhibit of all the GROSS noises and smells that come from our bodies.  You know what I mean, like burps, snot, sweat, and other things that I cannot even say.  If you have a male of any age, they will definitely love this Grossology exhibit, just because everything in this area was really GROSS!!   We also learned many other things about the human body including the heart, lungs, blood, cells, muscles, intestines, and many other body parts.  We all enjoyed our day at the Museum of Discovery in Little Rock also called the Donald W. Reynolds Science Center.  Scroll down to see all the Gross stuff we learned about.

My favorite exhibit was the tornado simulation room.  When you step into the room, it is like being in a the middle of a tornado. You watch a video about the destruction of tornadoes.  While watching the video, you experience the sounds of a tornado coming toward you, the tornado hitting your house, and the stillness after the tornado leaves.  These sounds included the train sound, the wind, lightening, thunder, debris flying everywhere, and the rain constantly pounding on the tin roof.   We experience all of this while the lights flickered and finally went completely out.  We learn a lot about tornadoes and the destruction of tornadoes.  I pray the only experience my family has with a tornado is at the Museum of Discovery Science Center in Little Rock.

The next featured exhibit at the Museum of Discovery will be June 22, 2013 until September 27, 2013 called How People Make Things.  This exhibit was inspired by my favorite childhood television show Mister Rogers.   We have all seen Mister Rogers’ Factory Tours.  They tell the story of how familiar childhood objects are manufactured, and the people, ideas, and technology used to transform raw materials into finished products.  Robots + Us exhibit will be coming October 12, 2013 to January 26, 2014.  You will be able to meet life like Robots.
