Disney World-Be Our Guest Restaurant

Be Our Guest Restaurant – Disney’s Magic Kingdom. This is the Main Dining Room.

By now, I am sure you know that Disney World expanded Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom.   My family and I could not wait to see this new section in Fantasyland, especially the Beast’s Castle which is where the Be Our Guest Restaurant is located.  My oldest daughter, Carly booked our reservations for this restaurant exactly 6 months out to the day we wanted to visit.  Even though Carly is no longer a kid at age 21, she could hardly wait to eat at Be Our Guest.  I am so glad she was able to get us a reservation.  Although our overall experience was good, I was just hoping for something more.  See below for details.  While standing around waiting to be seated which was about 20 to 30 minutes even with our reservations, we noticed a huge line of people.  They were all waiting to see if the restaurant would have any cancellations.   A large number of people were trying to go over the bridge to the main iron gates into the castle but were stopped.  Only dinner guests were allowed into the castle.  Be Our Guest is also open with counter service for lunch so reservations are not needed then, however, when we passed by during lunchtime, there was a huge line.

It was really dark in Be Our Guest.  The pictures are not as good as I was hoping.

My Disney Dining Main Tip – Plan your dinners out ahead of time and make the reservation 6 months prior to your trip.  This is especially true with the character dinners, Be Our Guest Restaurant, and our new favorite place ‘Ohana which book up extremely quickly. SEE ‘Ohana post for details and pictures.

Now, for my thoughts about Be Our Guest Restaurant.  We had an early booking at 4:00pm which worked out great.  We only had a snack during lunch time.  By 4:00 p.m., we were tired, hungry, and needed a break.  Be Our Guest Restaurant has two main seating areas.  The main dining room is the ballroom which looks like the scene when Belle is dancing with the beast.  This main dining room was BEAUTIFUL with enormous gorgeous chandeliers.  We walked through the main dining area and into the West Wing where we were seated.  As you know from the movie, this is where the Beast mainly stays and is where the rose is located.  This room was extremely dark.  Even with the professional flash on my camera, some of my pictures did not turn out.  Hopefully, you will get a good idea from the pictures below of how delicious the food was and how beautiful the Beast’s Castle truly was.

The food was really good.  Most of us had a puff pastry stuffed with shrimp and scallops for the main dish.  The shrimp were cooked perfectly.  We all ate every bite of this puff pastry.  For dessert, they had a variety of cupcakes and cream puffs.   We all had a different cupcake.  Every one of the cupcakes were wonderful but the Strawberry Cream Cheese cupcake was our favorite.  It was probably the best cupcake I have ever had.

During our meal, the Beast did show up at the door to wave at everyone while they announced to join him for a picture after dinner.

Our overall experience was good BUT I was just hoping for something more.  The restaurants on board the Disney Wonder  Cruise are all so amazing.  When you enter into any of the dining rooms, they announce your name before seating you.  Animator’s Palate Restaurant on Disney Wonder completely transforms the dining room into something magical while you are eating.  The other restaurants have great music playing.  At certain times, the wait staff march in carrying items while entertaining the guests .  I love the Beauty and The Beast movie, especially the part where the dishes elaborately present all of the wonderful food while singing Be Our Guest.  I truly expected the wait staff to march into the dining room caring at least the salads over their shoulders while the song  Be Our Guest is being played.  Certainly, Disney could have made a more dramatic and memorable entrance, just like in the movie.  The Branson Belle in Branson, Missouri is famous for this.  The entire wait staff enters into the dining room caring the food over their shoulders on large trays while dramatic music is playing.  It is really cool!!

    Amy,

I am so glad you had a good experience with Disney World Be Our Guest Restaurant. I am sure they have improved a lot since we were their. We have been to Disney many times and I have written lots of Disney Reviews. I hope you got a chance to check them out. I have never heard of truffle salt. It sounds amazing!

    Have a wonderful weekend!
    Blessings,

We just ate there this week. Loved our meals (steak and braised pork.). Btw, because you mentioned the fries, I found out they’re salted with truffle salt. I was surprised. Despite the pouring rain, I had an amazing experience as a fan!

    Sarah,

I have never heard of the Biergarten. I will look it up. We are actually going again very soon. It would give us a new place to eat.
    Blessings,

Agree on Ohana and The Garden Grill. When I’m asked what I want to do for dinner, my response is always “The Land!” But we ate at the Biergarten for the first time (I know, I have no idea what took us so long!) and I now plan to add that to my nightly wish! It will become a staple, for sure!

    Sarah,

I agree. You need to experience Be Our Guest but once is enough. Although, our seafood pastry was really good. We had the cupcakes which were also really moist and delicious. The overall experience was disappointing.

Just ate there a few weeks ago (February 20-something) and wasn’t all that impressed. My dinner (lamb chop) was okay, a little chewy for my taste. I’d read raves about “the grey stuff” dessert, and it pretty much tasted like a brownie with cool whip on top. Like you, I had hoped the presentation would have been a little more exciting. Overall, I’m glad we got to experience it, but with so many dining choices, I won’t feel bad not going back!

    April,

Thank you so much for the tip about eating at Disney’s Be Our Guest Restaurant for Lunch. We will have to try it next time. We also had the strawberry cupcake and it was truly amazing!!

Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving me this information. I am glad you had a good time. Did you by chance eat at Disney’s Polynesians restaurant? It is by far our favorite restaurant.

I would love for you to following my blog if you do not already.

Blessings Always and visit again soon!

We went here for lunch and the food was amazing! By far the best Disney meal we had. The pot roast was to die for and the Strawberry cupcake was amazing! Our wait for lunch, despite the scary looking line was about 20 minutes. Forget dinner reservations, go for lunch! Plus, at lunch, this place is considered a Quick service meal.

Good write up, shows good stuff as well as things needing improvement.

Chris, I believe we were really lucky. We did have a good time. All my kids loved being in the Beast’s Castle. Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving me a comment. Blessings and visit again really soon! Diane Roark

You’re lucky you got reservations! I tried 6 months out to the day with no luck.

Alex, My daughter loves soup. I did not even look at the kids menu. I just ordered her a large bowl of soup which she loves. I did not even look to see if they had Mac & Cheese or other kid foods. Unfortunately, none of my kids are considered kids by Disney standards. Kids are considered adults at age 10 and above and are normally charged for an adult meal but we were able to order off the menu. My 10 year old just loved that Disney considers her an adult. I will say that Disney restaurants are pretty expensive but since we are on vacation we usually splurge. When I left the Be Our Guest restaurant, we all said it was an overall pretty good experience. Hopefully, Disney might read my post and make this experience even better.
I am working on lots of other posts about our Disney World vacation. My older kids are working on writing a post about their favorite things to do. I look forward to seeing what they write.
Blessings to you and please come back and visit anytime!! Diane Roark

Unfortunately, I’ve never been to WDW, but one of my students went a couple of months ago. His mom had told me they had been planning to go there, and they were all really excited. When they got back, I asked how it was, and she was a little underwhelmed too. Like you, she said it was beautiful, but she thought the food (and even the kids’ menu) was too fancy. She said her youngest (who is almost 3) didn’t end up eating anything but a cupcake because the food was too fancy/rich for him.
