Who is Debbie Macomber and why did she write the Cedar Cove Cookbook? You probably already know that Debbie Macomber is a #1 New York Times bestselling author. She has written over 100 novels including the very popular Cedar Cove series. The Cedar Cove T.V. series is currently playing on the Hallmark Channel every Saturday night. My family is hooked on this series. My teenagers not only record it, but remind all of us when it is time to watch Cedar Cove. I was a little surprised that my kids enjoy it as much as they do. Duck Dynasty and Cedar Cove are the only shows my kids record. Cedar Cove has suspense that will keep you hanging on to every word. Cedar Cove also boasts breathtaking scenery and small town values which make me dream about living there.
Before talking about Debbie Macomber’s new cookbook, I have to mention “Mrs. Miracle“. This is one of my favorite Christmas Hallmark movies and was written by Debbie Macomber. The good news for me is she has two different “Mrs Miracle” DVD’s. “Mrs. Miracle” is great for the kids, family movie night, or date night. I have also seen her Christmas movie “Trading Christmas”. It has a great lesson to be learned by all of us. Wonderful family movies!
Debbie talks often about food and her love for cooking through the characters in her Cedar Cove novels. She was asked often for the recipes she mentioned in her novels. Debbie got the inspiration to write her Cedar Cove cookbook from Cedar Cove fans. This Cedar Cove cookbook is written from the view point of the characters in Cedar Cove. Each section gives a little history on a character in Cedar Cove. For example, the Breakfast section gives you some background information about Olivia Griffin. I wish you all could thumb through this Cedar Cove Cookbook. The pictures are just BEAUTIFUL!
During this Cookbook Giveaway, I decided to share 3 of the recipes from this cookbook between Friday, August 16, and Friday, August 30, 2013. I had such a difficult time picking out only three of the recipes to share with you because there were so many good ones to choose from. Today, I am going to talk about this BBQ Chicken. The recipe is really for the BBQ sauce which was very easy to prepare and YUMMY! If you know me or have read some of my other posts, you already know I Love BBQ!! I was not disappointed in this sauce. I doubled the recipe so I could smother more BBQ sauce on my chicken at the table.
Debbie Macomber’s BBQ Chicken Recipe - My only regret was not getting a picture of my son Caleb’s face or my face to show you how much we enjoyed this BBQ sauce.
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons molasses
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon Tabasco or hot sauce
- 1 whole chicken (sauce for 10 pieces or 4 pounds of chicken)
- Salt, pepper to taste
- I seasoned my chicken with salt, pepper, garlic, and a little Cajun seasoning before placing the chicken on the grill. 5 minutes before removing them from the grill add the BBQ sauce.

I believe the secret to building stronger families that stick together, communicate more, and love each other is to cook together, eating around the table together, play together, vacation together, and share God’s love.
