KARK News Channel in Little Rock had a search for the Best Barbecue Sauce Recipe in Arkansas. The final four Barbecue Sauce recipe participants were live this morning, 6/30/2017, for the final judging. Keep reading to see if I won.
Somehow I made it out the door by 4:45 A.M. this morning and headed to KARK for the best barbecue sauce in Arkansas contest. I did not care how early it was because I was so thankful to be picked to be in the top four barbecue sauces in Arkansas.
KARK teamed up with Fat Daddy’s Barbecue for a barbecue sauce contest. Fat Daddy’s has several barbecue restaurants in Arkansas. They are well known for their fantastic barbecue, barbecue sauces, and catering. Fat Daddy’s was gracious enough to provide the pulled pork for everyone to eat while trying the top four barbecue sauces. They also provided a gift certificate to the winner.
I had to get my picture with Fat Daddy’s because he liked my barbecue sauce. What an honor!
Maybe we can team up one day with Fat Daddy’s, KARK, and even Walmart to make a simple barbecue sauce where the proceeds would go to feed the overwhelming amount of people in Arkansas who go hungry. A girl can dream!
D.J. Williams Anchor For KARK
DJ Williams works for KARK. He does a little bit of everything including judging this barbecue sauce contest. It was an honor to meet D.J. He has an amazing story on how he moved to Arkansas. He works hard to raise money for several different charities in Arkansas. This includes currently raising awareness for orphans in Arkansas. If you do not know already, orphans are near and dear to my heart. My husband and I have two adopted children. D.J. is outgoing funny and a lot of fun to watch on T.V. I was not disappointed meeting him in person. My special needs son, Caleb, was able to go this morning. He was so excited not only to be in the studio but to see D.J. D.J. does or says something silly every morning that makes Caleb laugh. He is as nice as he can be not only on camera but in person as well. Not to mention, he is such a natural in front of the camera.
On The Set of Kark NBC News Channel 4 in Little Rock
In May of this year, I was able to go to the TODAY SHOW to demonstrate an easy cake recipe. That was my first experience in a newsroom. If you have never been on a set, it is exciting. Watching everyone counting down to being live, to watching the hustle bustle of getting everyone where they are supposed to be and on time is fascinating to me. Even though I had seen the behind the scenes on The TODAY SHOW, I was just as excited for the opportunity to see the behind the scenes at KARK in Little Rock. We had plenty of time in between the times when we were live to watch the hosts. My family is also a big Mallory Harden fan, and even though I did not get a chance to meet her, she seemed as sweet as she could be both on-air and off air.
Never a wrong time for eating barbecue. We had to try Fat Daddy’s pulled pork with all four of the top Barbecue Sauces in Arkansas at 6:00 A.M. this morning.
D.J. Williams gives a shout out to people every morning. This morning, the four of us barbecue sauce contestants got to give shout outs.
AND THE WINNER IS…
I will not keep you in suspense any longer. Jessy Stillman from Sheridan, Arkansas won the Best Barbecue Sauce Recipe Contest. He is in the long sleeve solid blue shirt in the picture above. Congratulations Jessy! Congratulations to the other two contestants too! I seriously thought all your barbecue sauces were terrific. I would enjoy them anytime.
Because my BBQ Sauce was in the top four in Arkansas, I am going to give you the recipe. It is not a recipe that I would usually blog about because it has a lot of ingredients. Recipe For Our Daily Bread is all about sharing easy delicious recipes with few ingredients. My followers do not have a lot of time to spend in the kitchen.
The reason my barbecue sauce has so many ingredients is that I am crazy about BBQ sauces. Typically, I add every BBQ sauce on the table to my pulled pork including the sweet sauce, hot sauce, vinegar base sauce, mustard sauce, and every other sauce. My homemade barbecue sauce recipe includes a little bit of everything too.
My “Hogalicious” barbecue sauce is not only delicious on pulled pork and ribs, but fries, tater tots, hot dogs, burgers, and in my baked beans. This bbq sauce is fabulous mixed with ranch dressing for a fantastic salad dressing or dressing for a pasta salad.
