CUT MELONS WITH NO MESS

Do you mess up your entire kitchen cutting a Watermelon or Cantaloupe?  Use a large garbage bag to cut a Watermelon with NO Mess. HOW TO CUT MELONS WITH NO MESS TO CLEAN UP

I truly enjoyed watermelon when I was a child and I still love it.  All of my children were born in August, even my twins.  I do not know how I would have survived August heat without cold watermelon.  It was not only delicious but really helped with swelling.  If you love watermelon like I do, you may want to try opening up a large trash bag and cutting melons inside it.  It really helps with the mess.

I have so many great memories of eating delicious, ice-cold, juicy watermelons as a kid.  Growing up in LA (lower Alabama), it was always HOT and humid, and an ice-cold watermelon always hit the spot. I did not care about getting messy as a kid.  We would line the picnic table out back with newspapers. My father would take the huge watermelons that had been iced down in a cooler and put them on a picnic table under a large shade tree in the backyard.  He would slice everyone a piece, and we would dive head first into the watermelon.   After we ate a bite of melon, we would be left with a large mouthful of watermelon seeds.  Of course, we had a great time spitting the seeds all over the yard.  After we finished eating our watermelon, we would toss the newspaper in the trash.  Dad would take the water hose and rinse the picnic table down.

Enjoy God’s Candy, fresh fruit, all the time without the mess.  If you do not already use a clean trash bag to cut your melon, try it.

Today, I am sad to say that we do not have a large shade tree or even a picnic table.  My family eats our watermelon inside.

The good news is we eat a lot of watermelon.  I probably eat more watermelon during the summer now than when I was growing up.  Watermelon can get extremely messy when eating it in the house.  I am not going to take a water hose and hose the inside of my kitchen down, although, I have thought about it several times.

I have found a way to eat watermelon that has NO MESS.  Basically, I take a 30 gallon trash bag and open it up and place the watermelon down into the trash bag.  Be careful not to cut the trash bag.  You may want to place a cutting board underneath the watermelon.  Yes, I learned from experience.  When you finish cutting the watermelon, remove the cutting board and knife.  All you need to do is close the trash bag up and toss it in the garbage can.  You do not even have to wipe down your counters.  I rarely get anything on the counter.  So, if you are not eating watermelon outside, but you want to still enjoy it.  Try placing it in a garbage bag and enjoy watermelon all the time.  We eat ice-cold watermelon a lot for breakfast during the summer with some sweet, cold cantaloupe.  By the way, I use a regular size kitchen trash bag and cut my cantaloupe the same way.  See pictures below.

Fruit of the Spirit – Peace is a Fruit of the Spirit. Eating a piece of watermelon reminds me of the peace that God wants us to receive. Peace is the lack of fear. Peace is freedom from worry. The Bible says that Jesus is the Prince of PeaceIsaiah 9:6-7 “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders.  And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”  The next time you enjoy a piece of watermelon think about the peace that God wants us to give us when we receive His Son.

    • Carrie,

I love and eat way to much watermelon. I truly would eat 3 to 4 a week by myself when I was pregnant with my twins. I had to learn how to eat it with less mess.

I hat the sticky mess watermelons leave behind.
