Why is it Importance to Eat Together As A Family Around The Table all year long and not just on Thanksgiving?
As we celebrate Thanksgiving in America, we plan a meal with family and friends around the table. The conversation around the Thanksgiving table is usually about what we are thankful for. Most of the time, we all say that we are grateful for our families, but we are often too busy to take the time to get to know our children or our spouse. Eating around the table is an excellent way to open up communication with each member of the family. Our example of eating around the table goes back to Jesus. He ate with the disciples often around the table. When He had something critical to say, He did it around the table.
My prayer for you is that you will take the time to eat dinner around the table with your family often. Eating around the table with teenagers and adult children gets harder to do, but so necessary.
Matthew 26:20-21 “When evening came, Jesus was reclining at the table with the Twelve. And while they were eating, he said, I tell you the truth, one of you will betray me.” Jesus taught us why we should take the Lord’s Supper (communion) while eating around the table with his disciples. Matthew 26:26 “While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take and eat; this is my body.”
