Steven Curtis Chapman The Glorious Unfolding-Giveaway

I am Giving Away a signed copy of Steven Curtis Chapman The Glorious Unfolding.  This is his latest CD, which will be released on Monday, September 30, 2013.  Who is Steven Curtis Chapman?   Why is Steven Curtis Chapman’s music so different?  What is The Glorious Unfolding all about?

Steven Curtis Chapman is a singer/songwriter of Contemporary Christian music.

He has been around since the 1980’s.  I have been listening to him for that long which tells you how old I am.  He has won many Grammy and Dove Awards including Artist of the year several times.  Just this week I was telling someone I was excited about Steven Curtis Chapman’s new CD and she asked who Steven Curtis Chapman was.  I thought everyone has heard of him but if you have not, you are missing out on a very encouraging singer/songwriter.  Steven Curtis Chapman is known for his ability to write songs that tell the story of his life and how it relates to God and others.  When entering using the Rafflecopter below, I ask you to leave me a comment and let me know what is your favorite Steven Curtis Chapman song.  I have several favorites but the song that sums up my life and gives me hope is “Long Way Home“.   It is so encouraging.

Additional Information About Steven Curtis Chapman & His Family

Click to see post on Choosing to SEE by Mary Beth Chapman

  • The Chapman family has 6 children including 3 adopted children.

  • In 2003, the Chapman’s started a non-profit organization called Show Hope which was named after their oldest adopted daughter Shaohannah Hope.   It was begun to help assist families who wanted to adopt children but could not afford the initial cost.

  •  They lost their youngest daughter, Maria, in a terrible accident in May 2008The year after Maria’s death, the Chapman’s had a grand opening for Maria’s Big House of Hope dedicated in honor of Maria.  Maria’s Big House of Hope helps over 100 orphans with special needs in China.

  • Mary Beth Chapman wrote an excellent book called Choosing to SEE.  It was about her struggles after the death of Maria.

The Chapman’s have been through a lot which is probably why Steven is such a good songwriter.  He can directly relate.  My husband and I have had our share of extreme heartache.  If you have followed me, you know our adoption story has not been good.  After all the heartache, we still believe that all children need to be adopted but at a very early age.  Children deserve a loving home and have a chance to learn about God and His love for them.  My children were 4 and 7 1/2 when we adopted them.  They had already experienced more pain in their life than any human should have to experience.  I admire the Chapman family for all they do to help orphans find loving Christian homes.

What is The Glorious Unfolding all about?

The Glorious Unfolding is the theme for the CD.   Both the title of the CD and a song is called The Glorious Unfolding.  The Glorious Unfolding is a collection of songs that Steven Curtis Chapman wrote about how God is Unfolding his story about his life.  Life is not meaningless and over time, the pieces of your life start fitting altogether.  My favorite song on this CD is called Love Take Me Over.  It is his prayer to God every morning.  He wants God to help show love each day in every situation.  He prays “Love, take these words that I am speaking. Love, take these thoughts that I am thinking. Love take me over.”  Steven is asking God to help him show love to others like God shows love to him.   I believe it is easier to show love to other people when you know how much God loves you.  It is a beautiful song that I need to pray every day.  I have to show unending love to my adoptive children.  After seven years of being in our family, they still cannot receive nor give love.  When we know that God sent his Son to die for us so we can be forgiven, we have to know that God loves all of us.  To me, this CD is all about:

Jeremiah 29:11-NIV

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and future.”

God is working every piece of our lives together to fit in His BIG Plan, which is what Steven Curtis Chapman’s The Glorious Unfolding is all about.  I was thrilled to get my advanced copy of  The Glorious Unfolding.  I also have a second copy to share with someone.

  4. steven curtis chapman has been my favorite christian singer for the longest time. when i was in college in the early nineties, a group of my friends went to his concert in indiana. i had won my tickets off a radio contest. the concert was great. afterwards we waited for him outside of his tour bus. he was very gracious and nice enough to take pix and autographs for us even though he was extremely tired. i was totally awestruck to meet him, and even more so when i was able to stand by him for pix!!

  6. Well, it’s difficult to pick one favorite, but I guess I would say Heaven in the Real World. This is my first visit to your blog, but not my last!

  7. yay! so excited for this giveaway! Been a SCC fan ever since the early 90s. Saw him perform a concert with Michael W Smith, and one of my all time favorite concert moments was when they joined the stage together for a cover of U2’s In The Name of Love. Chills!
My fave SCC albums so far are Speechless and All About Love.

  8. I love the one SCC cd that I own. I always listen to it while driving and think of you. The cd is a copy that you made for me years ago because one of the songs made you think of me. That cd will always be special to me! It would be cool if I win my second one from your awesome site. Jolie

  9. Mainly listen to his Christmas Albums, and they are great I love his version of “Go Tell It On The Mountain” of course who can go wrong with that sone

  10. I haven’t listened to a Steven Curtis Chapman song in a long time BUT frequently his song with they lyrics “Do justly…love mercy…walk humbly with your God” resound in my head. I think it’s called “The Walk” but not sure.

  11. I grew up listening to Steven Curtis Chapman! I still have all my cds. I have passed them down to my 14 year old daughter who loves Christian music. I don’t have a certain song of his that I love more than another. I love them all.

  12. I have learned from you and appreciate your heart and your website. Thank you for the time and care you put in your readers. Steven Curtis Chapman has an incredible gift. When he shares his music, God changes me. I would take GREAT advantage of the gift of his CD. Thank you for the opportunity to receive it!

  13. I’ve known of Steven Curtis Chapman for years but don’t know his music that well. I would love to win this as my first Steven Curtis Chapman CD!

  14. I used to listen to SCC a while ago, but I haven’t really heard any of his new stuff. Would love to hear some of his new stuff.

  15. Hi Diane. Yes, I am a SCC fan. I’d say my favorite song is The Great Adventure. That song says it all to me. It keeps me motivated to follow God and saddle up.

  16. I have never heard of this singer before. The words you quoted are so beautiful and my prayer too. As I grow older I am realizing how much we need each other and need to encourage one another. I hope you have a good day and hug those little ones for me. 🙂

  17. Oh Diane, we love the ministry and music of Steven Curtis Chapman! We can say we “knew him” way back when. He actually provided the music for my nephew’s high school (Northshore Highschool in Slidell, Louisiana) Valentine’s Banquet back in the 80’s. My nephew’s name is Steven Chapman too and Steven Curtis Chapman signed a t-shirt for him that said, “From one Steven Chapman to another!” We also saw him at a concert he did at the New Orleans Seminary in their chapel long ago. More recently, during Valentine’s week this year we were blessed to go on the Family Life’s “Love Like You Mean it” cruise for married couples and he was one of the performers on board who gave a fabulous concert. Like you, I love his song “Long Way Home”. In addition, I also love his song “I Will be Here”. But who am I kidding my husband and I love all of his music! Great post! I enjoyed every word of it!

  18. Diane, this really is a wonderful giveaway and loved learning more about Steven here today. The rafflecopter doesn’t seem to be open yet, but will try back later to enter. Thanks as always and hoping you are having a great weekend now, too!! 🙂

    • Janine,
You are my lifesaver. Thank you so much! I thought I had checked everything but I had the time wrong. It works now! We did not get home until after 11 pm from my son high school football game. I must have been seeing things. The Chapman family are so encouraging to others.

Thank you again and have a great weekend.
      Diane
