I grew up in Mobile, Alabama and learned how to cook at a very early age due to family circumstances. I met my husband in Mobile and we have been married 28 years. Jerry is in medical sales. Being married to a salesman, we have had the opportunity to live not only in Alabama but Georgia, Tennessee, Louisiana and Arkansas. Each area of the south, has a twist on Southern Classic Foods and usually a specialty food that is unique to that state. I really do love to cook and will be featuring Southern Classic Foods from these states on my blog. I will also feature Southern Restaurants Reviews and our Families Favorite Places to spend the day or vacation.
I am a Christian mom who tries to teach children that God has a special plan for their lives. My husband and I have five great children. Our oldest daughter Carly is currently a senior in college studying pre-med. She has a heart for God and hopes to do medical missions one day. We have twin boys who are 16 years old. Casey is the oldest twin. He is very athletic and plays both baseball and football for his high school. Casey is our quiet leader. He is a man of few words but sets great examples most of the time. He loves listening to contemporary Christian music when he is not playing sports. Caleb the second born twin was born with a grade 4 brain bleed. He has cerebral palsy on his left side, seizures and selective mutism. He has a shunt which drains his spinal fluid. The shunt has failed 17 times which means he has had 17 brain surgeries. God has provided great hospitals for Caleb like Children’s Hospital in Atlanta, Children’s Hospital in New Orleans and Children’s Hospital in Little Rock. Read more about Caleb in the story called Daily Surrender Everything To God and about his love for baking in the story called Caleb’s Comfort Cakes and Cookies in the About Us section.
In July 2006 the year after we survived Hurricane Katrina, we adopted Jonah age 7 at the time and Diana age 4. We felt a huge calling to open our home, family and hearts to help these two children learn that God loves them. Jonah is now 14 and having a very difficult time with the extreme trauma that he suffered the first 7 1/2 years of life. We still believe God has a great plan for Jonah and we know one day Jonah will give his heart to God. He have hope that he will eventually love and trust God. Diana is now 10 years old. She is our only left-handed, very imaginative, creative child. God has special plans for her too.
