Marketside Brussels Sprouts

  • I used Walmart Marketside Brussels Sprouts that are in a clear bag with a bright orange band at the top in the produce section. See the picture below. They are large fresh Brussels Sprouts already cut in half.
  • If you cannot find Great Value Fresh Brussels Sprouts halves, purchase the whole ones. Cut the end off that attaches to the stalk.
  • Next, cut the Brussels sprouts in half lengthwise.

First Step: Bacon

  • Cut each strip of bacon into eight pieces, lengthwise.
  • Preheat a skillet to 350 degrees.
  • Empty bacon pieces into a skillet.
  • Next, Stir and cook bacon until brown and crispy.
  • Lastly, remove the bacon from the skillet. Place it on paper towels. Leave bacon grease in the skillet.

Second Step: Brussels Sprouts

  • Pour one bag of brussels sprouts into the skillet.
  • Flit each of the brussels sprouts over with the cut side down in the skillet. Consequently, the flat side down will caramelize more surface space.
  • Place a lid on the skillet and cook the Brussels sprouts for 8 minutes.
  • After 8 minutes, check one of the Brussels Sprouts to see if the bottom side has caramelized.

  • When Brussels Sprouts are brown, turn each one over and season with salt, pepper, and granulated garlic.
  • Next, add the crumbled bacon and cook an additional two minutes.

Bacon Brussels Sprouts Tips

  • Buy compact Brussels Sprouts. The exterior leaves should be bright green.
  • The outer leaves of brussels sprouts will start to get dark brown spots when it is going bad. The interior leaves should be pale yellow or white.
  • Refrigerate fresh, unwashed, and untrimmed Brussels Sprouts until you are ready to cook them.
  • When ready to cook clean Brussels Sprouts, rinse in a large bowl of cold water.
  • Dry your brussels sprouts well with paper towels or a clean dishcloth.
  • When using whole Brussels, trim off the end. Remove any loose outer leaves.
  • For an extra caramelized area, place the sliced Brussels Sprouts cut-side down in the skillet or sheet bat.
  • Stick a fork into a sprout to check for doneness. The fork should easily go through the Brussels Sprout.
