BBQ CHEESEBURGER CORNBREAD SKILLET

BBQ Cheeseburger Cornbread Skillet is a quick and easy skillet recipe that is super flavorful.

When my twin boys were growing up, they loved cheeseburgers and still do.   For convenience,  I prepare this cheeseburger skillet meal.  Ground beef is cooked in a skillet, and then cheeseburger toppings are added to make this easy BBQ Cheeseburger Cornbread Skillet.  It is a hit!

What is in this BBQ Cheeseburger Cornbread Skillet?

This cornbread skillet includes ground beef, onions, pepper, bbq sauce, cheddar cheese, cornbread mix, and bacon.

BBQ CHEESEBURGER CORNBREAD SKILLET

First Step:  Ground Beef for BBQ Cheeseburger Skillet

In a large skillet, brown two pounds of ground beef.   While the ground beef is browning, add the chopped onion and pepper.

ADD BBQ Sauce to BBQ CHEESEBURGER CORNBREAD SKILLET

Second Step: Cheeseburger Toppings

After the ground beef is ready, stir in the BBQ sauce and then top it with cheese.

Add shredded cheese to BBQ CHEESEBURGER CORNBREAD SKILLET

Third Step: Cornbread and Bacon

Mix two packs of cornbread according to the package directions.  Spoon the cornbread over the cheese layer.  Top the cornbread with crumbled bacon.  See my oven fried bacon recipe here.

Fourth Step: Bake

Bake the BBQ CHEESEBURGER CORNBREAD SKILLET until the cornbread is brown.  Baking the cornbread will take about 30 minutes at 375 degrees.

If You Enjoy BBQ Bacon Cheeseburgers And The Simplicity Of A Sloppy Joe, this skillet dish is for you.


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped small
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 – 8 ounces cornbread mix
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked crumbled

Instructions

Use a paper towel and grease a 10 or 12-inch ovenproof skillet using vegetable oil.

In a large skillet, brown two pounds of ground beef.   While the ground beef is browning, add the chopped onion and pepper.

After the ground beef is ready, stir in the BBQ sauce and then top it with cheese.

Mix together two packs of cornbread according to the package directions.  Spoon the cornbread over the cheese layer.  Top the cornbread with crumbled bacon.

Bake the BBQ CHEESEBURGER CORNBREAD SKILLET until the cornbread is brown.  This will take about 30 minutes at 375 degrees.
