Blueberries are considered an immune system superfood.  They contain flavonoids that reduce damage to cells and boost your immune system.

Other Health Benefits of Blueberries

Here is a link to explain to help explain the health benefits of blueberries.  Just to sum these links up, blueberries include fiber, potassium, folate, vitamin C, and vitamin B6.  Blueberries are also a great source of antioxidants which help protect cardiovascular cells.  They are great for brain health.  The fiber content helps to reduce our cholesterol and decrease the risk of heart disease.  What I gather from reading about blueberries is that they are incredibly healthy for you.

Boost Your Immune System with this healthy recipe

I have been encouraging my family to eat more fruits and vegetables.  One way I have found to do that is by drinking smoothies.  They are easy to make.  You can use your favorite fruits and even add vegetables to create delicious, healthy smoothies.  We have been fixing smoothies several times a week for breakfast.  Over the next couple of weeks, I will be sharing some of our favorite smoothie recipes.

Today, I am sharing this Blueberry Coconut Greek Yogurt Smoothie.  I have never been a big Greek Yogurt fan until I decided to try it in this smoothie.  I am sure everyone already knows that Greek yogurt is extremely good for you.

This Protein Smoothie Keeps You Full

Did you know there are twelve grams of protein in Greek Yogurt or at least in the Chobani Greek Yogurt?  This Blueberry Coconut Yogurt Smoothie is filling.  No wonder I am never hungry before lunch.  I used Coconut Milk in this smoothie too.  The kind in the carton you can find next to the Almond Milk in the dairy section of the grocery store.  I also add blueberries, which are super good for you.  The older I get combined with a stressful life means I need a superfood like blueberries to help with my memory. It does not matter to me how good for you something is if it does not taste good.  This smoothie and the other smoothies I will be adding all taste incredibly delicious.

Can You Use Fresh Blueberries?

Absolutely!  Even though this Blueberry Yogurt Smoothie calls for frozen blueberries, you can substitute a cup of fresh blueberries plus 1/2 cup ice.

How to make frozen fruit at home?

I often freeze my blueberries and blackberries.  Simply spread the fruit on a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper.  Make sure the fruit is in a single layer.  Freeze the fruit for several hours or up to one night.  Remove the fruit from the tray and transfer it to a labeled freezer bag.
