These chocolate strawberry cupcakes are incredibly moist and terrific. They are made using a cake mix. Yes! A cake mix which means even kids can whip up these yummy treats.
What ingredients do you need to make these Chocolate Strawberry Cupcakes?
This chocolate cake recipe is my favorite. It is my go-to recipe to make many different desserts. You can whip up a chocolate cake or cupcakes in no time using a Devil’s food cake mix, instant chocolate pudding mix, eggs, sour cream, vegetable oil, and chocolate chips.

Why use a cake mix?
This question is obvious, but it is so true that we have less and less time to spend in the kitchen. Cake Mixes are a homemade or home baked cake with far less time spent in the kitchen.
In addition to less time spent in the kitchen preparing a delicious dessert, cake mixes are a reliable friend. Cake mixes from scratch require some practice. Yes! I can tell you a story or two when I did not have just the right ingredient called for in a made from scratch dessert and the adverse outcome that followed. You have to have the right cake flour and room-temperature butter for example. If you are using a cake mix, you do not have to worry about the ingredients.
Cake mix desserts are easy to assemble by simply dumping all the ingredients together and mixing them up. You can even put your spin on cake mix desserts by adding can pie filling, or a handful of fresh fruit.
A Cake Mix Can Be Used To Make More Than Cakes
You can tweak a cake mix dessert by putting your spin on the recipe and quickly turn a cake mix cake into cupcakes, bars, cookies, waffles, pies, or even cheesecake.
When making a made from scratch cake, you have to worry about over beating. You do not have to worry about how long you mix a cake when using a cake mix. Cake mixes are magical in that way. I have under mixed and over combined, and they still bake up great and look stunning.
Cake Mix And A Can Of Soda
Have you ever mix a cake mix with JUST soda. It comes out extremely light, fluffy and terrific. Not to mention, low in fat and calories especially if you are using a diet soda.
Baking does not need to be a long drawn out follow every detail in the recipe process. You can bake a great dessert quick and easy using a cake mix. My pantry is full of cake mixes. I stock every flavor because I never know when the moment will hit for a delicious dessert. I am always ready to whip up a cake mix dessert like these amazing Chocolate Peanut Butter cupcakes. They are not only easy to make but beautiful and tastes amazing.
Poke Cakes Made From A Cake Mix
Some of my favorite desserts are poke cakes made with cake mix. They are incredibly moist from a layer of condensed milk or pudding and typically topped with a layer of non-dairy topping. Poke cakes are not only moist but super light and creamy. Not to mention how super simple they are to make.
That brings Me To Homemade Frosting
I have always said the best part of a dessert is the frosting. For this reason, you can quickly whip up a cake with a cake mix, but you absolutely must make homemade frosting. You can make a frosting from scratch in five minutes using butter, Confectioners sugar, and flavorings and it is always well worth the extra minutes it took to make it.

Chocolate Strawberry Cupcakes are easy enough for even a kid to make for mom. They are made using a cake mix and homemade frosting.
- 1 – 18-ounce box Devil’s food cake mix
- 1 – 4-ounce box chocolate instant pudding mix (dry)
- 4 eggs
- 1 – 8 ounces carton sour cream
- 3/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1 – 12-ounce bag semi-sweet chocolate chips
- STRAWBERRY FROSTING
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 4-1/2 cups sifted Confectioner’s sugar
- One tablespoon Whipping Cream
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- One teaspoon strawberry extract
- One and 1/2 cup chopped strawberries
- Using a mixer, combine the cake mix, pudding mix, eggs, sour cream, oil, and water.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Bake 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
- Using an electric mixer, whip the butter.
- Next, slowly add the heavy cream and Confectioner’s sugar.
- Mix in the salt and strawberry extract.
- Fold in the chopped strawberries.
