Orange Infused Water after 8 to 10 hours in the refrigerator.

I have a goal this year to incorporate more fruits and vegetables in my diet.  I am NOT a health nut, but I am sold on all the benefits of fruits and vegetables.  I know my body and my family’s body needs them.  I am convinced the best way to fight the huge problems with health issues and insurance, is too simple eat more fruits and vegetables.  I have been thinking about; why I do not add more fruits and vegetables into my diet and my family’s diet.  I think I get frustrated with the same old ways of preparing vegetables.  I know that vegetable casseroles like what I grew up on including; my sweet potato, green bean, lima bean, mixed vegetable, and more are delicious, but they are not good for you.   I love fresh vegetables, and summertime is the perfect time to add more vegetables to our diets.

How do we eat more fruits and vegetables?  They have to be easy to prepare and taste great!

Add Fresh Vegetables To Pasta Salads and other Salads.  Season the salad and the dressing!

I am obsessed with healthy pasta salads lately.  I have made several that I add fresh cucumber, spinach, tomatoes, and more.  The best thing about pasta salads is my entire family loves them.  I have made an Italian Shrimp Pasta Salad, Greek Chicken Pasta Salad, Southwestern Chicken Pasta Salad, Balsamic Vinegar Pasta Salad,  Easy Chicken Caesar Pasta Salad and recently I made an Italian Tortellini Pasta Salad.  All of this pasta salad are incredibly delicious, Healthy, and easy to make.  They are the perfect meal to prepare ahead of time.  If you keep a healthy salad in the refrigerator and ready to eat, you will find yourself eating more vegetables.  I also do this trick with snacks.  I prepare a huge amount of sandwiches every week and put them into a large container in the refrigerator. See post here…

Easy Ways To Add More Fruits To Your Diet

I have always told my kids that fruit tastes great and is good for you because it is God’s, Candy.  Fruits are the first sweet things we had on earth.  I know they are great for your health.  I will add some of the websites at the bottom of this post I have read which talk about all the excellent benefits of fruits, but do we need to read them to know fruits and vegetables can prevent so many health issues.

Smoothies – Packed with fruits, vegetables, and nutrients. Quick & Easy!

I have been experimenting with lots of different smoothies.  I recently added a post for a Terrific Triple Berry Almond Milk Smoothie and a Delicious Blueberry Peach Almond Milk Smoothie.  I will be adding more smoothie recipes soon.  Smoothies are perfect for after school snacks, a quick breakfast, or even a fast lunch.  I have used both frozen fruits and fresh fruits.  They both work well.  If you use fresh fruit, all you need to do is add a little ice to thicken the smoothie up.

Fruit Infused Water – Are packed with fruits and nutrients.

Infusing your water with your favorite fruits makes great tasting water.  It also has tremendous health benefits. You do not need a special container to infuse water just use a regular container or mason jar.

Infused Water is just a fancy term for water full of flavor.

Who likes to drink plain water when they could choose water with flavor?  Infused water is made by leaving fruit in the water for hours for the water to pick up the flavors of the fruits and the nutrients.  Yes, you get a lot of nutrients from just add fruit to water.  To be honest, I never tried infusing water because I thought I had to use a special container to do it.  There is no recipe to infusing the water.  Just experiment.

  • Add enough fruit to the container to fill it half way.

  • After adding the fruits, fill the container with filtered water.

  • You also want to wash the fruit well and leave the skin on.

  •  Wash and leave the skin on thick fruits too like oranges and lemons.  If you are just starting out and are going to experiment with infused water, try adding one fruit at a time.  My kids still do not like me to mix the fruits or add herbs, and that is o.k.

  • Use mason jars to make a small amount or experiment with flavors.

  • Make a family size picture of infused water.

Fruit Infused Water

For this strawberry-infused water, I use 1-pint strawberries and one lemon.  I tried this with three lemons, and they overtook the strawberries.  Lemons are unbelievably great for you.  They are wonderful to help detox, but they overpower other fruits.  When using lemons, I only use one OR make a gallon of just LEMON water.

  3. Wow…colourful yummy drinks

Water is too much beneficial for our body. more intake of water quantity increase our health benefits.

I want to add some health benefits of drinking water

    1. Water is the foundation of the body and it controls virtually every aspect of our health. The body is more than 70% water, the brain is more than 75%, your blood is more than 80%, and your liver is 96% water!

    2. All of the signals sent through your nervous system travel through your nerves, which are in reality tiny waterways. If the fluid inside your nerves thickens due to dehydration or is contaminated with synthetic chemicals and metals like lead, then these signals can get distorted.

    3. Both proper digestion and nutrient absorption depend on a healthy intake of pure water. This is one of the benefits of drinking water that’s often overlooked. We need to consume clean, healthy water in order to get nutritional value from the food we eat. Considering how fast sugars and carbs are absorbed, even a slight bit of dehydration cause cause us to get calories without nutrition.

    4. The amount of drinking water we consume determines our energy level. Medical proof shows that just a 5% drop in bodily fluids with cause a 25% to 30% loss of energy in an average person. And a 15% drop causes death!

    5. Natural, healthy weight loss can only occur by increasing one’s intake of pure, healthy water. Your liver uses water to metabolize fat into usable energy. The cleaner and purer your drinking water is, the more time that the liver can spend on metabolizing fat instead of eliminating harmful toxins that are often found in tap and even bottled water. .

    6. By drinking plenty of water, you’re allowing your upper and lower intestines to better absorb nutrients during digestion. Food cravings are primarily the result of nutrient deficiencies and can be controlled by drinking lots of pure, healthy water.

    Thanks for the share 🙂

Adding lemon, cucumber, and limes are a great way to detox your body. I just made a huge picture of lemon infused water yesterday. I just washed the lemons really well and sliced them. I fill a gallon container with lemons and then add the water. By the way, I use the fruit a few times before getting rid of it.

  15. I don’t really do infused water because I can just drink it plain, but my hubby is the only one that has a difficult time drinking plain water. What do you do with the fruit? Do you eat it after?
Thanks for sharing this on Merry Monday.

    • Erlene,

I refill my infused water pitcher several times. I am not sure if you should, but it works for me. I hate to toss out good fruit. I use the oranges and lemons in my garbage disposer. It helps clean it out and makes it smell good.
