Goal To Eat Healthier
One of my goals this year was to eat healthier, which is why I have decided to eat this version of tacos. It is easy to replace ground beef with ground turkey without my family even noticing. I think we would agree that ground turkey is better for you than ground beef, but sometimes it can be bland. When I use ground turkey, I simply season it well. It is delicious.
I have tried it in my chili and now my tacos. Chili and Tacos have lots of seasonings. My family never noticed I had added ground turkey instead of ground beef. My kids are older, 12 to 23 years old, and love lettuce. They said they enjoyed the lettuce leaves better than taco shells. I know this healthier version of tacos is a good step to making a few changes at a time to eat healthier.
First Step: Brown Ground Turkey

Second Step: Taco Seasoning
Next, add a one-ounce pack of taco seasoning per three-fourths’ pound of ground turkey instead of a pound of ground beef as the package calls for. You can also make your taco seasoning.
- Mix all ingredients in a mason jar. Shake well before each use. Makes about 1/2 cup.
Third Step: Water
Next, I added 1/2 cup water with the taco seasoning.
Fourth Step: Build The Taco Lettuce Wrap
I added the ground turkey taco meat to lettuce wraps.
Top each taco with shredded cheese and sour cream.
These healthier taco wraps are so easy to make that we have had them twice lately. The next time I make these Lettuce Taco Wraps, I am going to try using boneless, skinless chicken breast cut up. I will let you know how my family likes them.
