To make this Pumpkin shaped Rice Krispies, you will need can Rice Krispies, pumpkin marshmallows, butter, and pumpkin flavor baking chips.




I found a recipe from Kellogg’s Rice Krispies website for a Pumpkin Shaped Rice Krispy treat that I substituted Pumpkin Flavored Marshmallows and Toll House Pumpkin Spice Baking Chips, which I found at my local Walmart.  Use pumpkin marshmallows for the regular ones.  I also covered the pumpkins with the Pumpkin Spice Baking Chips I melted in the microwave.  I made two batches, one with the coating and one without the melted pumpkin coating. We added candy for eyes, nose, and stem, and a little icing I colored green for vines.  We used candy corn, Twix for the branches, M & M’s for the eyes, and candy corn for the nose.  They turned out cute and delicious.

To make the Rice Krispies round, I use a jumbo ice cream scoop.  The directions say after you butter your hands use a 1/2 cup of Rice Krispies and form it into a ball.  Allow the Rice Krispies to dry before covering them with the melted pumpkin chips.  We also let me dry a few minutes before adding the candy faces.

I will tell you my big kids, ages 12 to 23, were having too much fun.  They gave the pumpkins ears and three-dimensional noses and more.  I decided NOT to pictures their silliness.

Pumpkin Shaped Rice Krispies

Quick and Easy Pumpkin Shaped Rice Krispies are perfect to make with your kids or grandkids to celebrate fall.

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 8 ounces Pumpkin Marshmallows
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies treats
  • To coat the pumpkins:
  • 1 bag Nestles Toll House Pumpkin Spice Baking Chips


  • In a large saucepan melt butter over low heat.
  • Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted.
  • Remove from heat.
  • (You can also do this in the microwave. It will take about 3 minutes. Stir after 1 minute.
  • Stir in the Rice Krispies and coat well with the marshmallow and butter mixture.
  • Butter your hands and for 1/2 cup ball with the mixture.
  • Place on a baking sheet.
  • If coating the Pumpkins with the baking chips, allow the pumpkins to dry first.
  • Melt the Pumpkin Baking Chips in the microwave for 1 minute.
  • Remove from the microwave and stir until smooth.
  • Dip the pumpkins into the melted chips or spoon it over the pumpkins.
  • Let the excess melted chips drip off.
  • Add the candy face while still wet.
  • If you are not dipping the pumpkins into the chips, add the candy faces before the pumpkin completely hardens.
