You do not get the crunchy topping, but you do get the same great taste.

Slow Cooker Sweet Potato Casserole

Yes, you can prepare a Sweet as Pie Sweet Potato Casserole in the Slow Cooker.  It is super easy and tastes amazing.  As much as I enjoyed this Slow Cooker Sweet Potato Casserole, to be honest, I still prefer my sweet potato casserole cooked in the oven so that the Praline Topping will get crunchy.  See the picture at the bottom of this page.

That being said;

I will fix this sweet potato casserole many more times because it is so much easier to prepare in my slow cooker and yummy!  After cutting the sweet potatoes up and adding the butter, sugar, and seasonings, I cook them in the slow cooker for three hours.  I then mash the sweet potatoes up in the slow cooker and add the brown sugar, pecans, and oats topping.  I cook the sweet potato casserole for an additional hour.  If you are looking for an exceptional easy side dish for ham, pork, chicken, or turkey, you have to try this Slow Cooker Sweet Potato Casserole.

  1. Eeew-weee!!! This looks AMAZING!!! I love sweet potatoes almost any way they’re cooked…especially Sweet Potato Casserole!! This is the ONLY slow cooker recipe I’ve ever seen…and I’m excited about trying it!! Having the oven free for the usual allotted time for this casserole gives me the opportunity to possibly try another recipe to add to our holiday menu, or, if nothing else, it will lesson the stress of getting everything finished cooking and kept warm, and ready to serve right on time!! This will also be a wonderful side dish to have for Sunday lunch, that would be safe to leave cooking while we’re at church!! Thank you so much for sharing it with us!! I can’t wait to get my hands on a fresh crop of the red sweet potatoes from the farmers market this weekend!! I just love Fall…and trying all the sweet potato, pumpkin, and apple recipes that I can find…and taking a day trip to the mountains to enjoy all the fall colors of the leaves, and the feel of the cool, crisp morning air while walking the streets with a big pumpkin spice latte from a local coffee shop…I can’t wait for Saturday to get here!! Mountains here we come…

    • Beverly,

      Thank you for stopping by to see my slow cooker sweet potato casserole. It has all the flavor of a sweet potato casserole and is super easy to prepare in a slow cooker. I hope you have a wonderful time checking out the Fall colors this weekend. It sounds like we are a lot alike. I love fall and everything about it including the colors, smells, flavors, and more. Fall is my favorite time to cook with all the amazing spices. We are in Branson, MO this week and having a wonderful time but the weather is in the 90’s today. COME ON FALL!

      I will be posting all about our trip on both my recipe blog and .
      Many blessings,

    • Kelly,

      Sweet potato casserole is a staple on our holiday table too. If I were guessing, I would say that you are from the south since sweet potato casserole is a staple on your holiday table.

  2. Oh, how I love sweet potatoes and your trick in the crock pot is AMAZING. I really like how you also make it in a casserole dish and include 3 toppings – something for everyone. Marvelous idea! Carrie, A Mother’s Shadow
