To make this recipe, you will need, Avocados, cilantro, minced garlic, minced jalapenos, onion, lime juice, black pepper, salt, and cumin.

Bland vs. Spicy Guacamole

I have never been a guacamole fan.  Every guacamole I have ever tried has been bland with no flavor.  I decided to chop some jalapenos up and add them to my guacamole.  After adding the peppers, I cannot stop eating it.  It is fabulous!  For three avocados, I added two tablespoons minced jalapenos.  You can add less if you do not like the heat or even leave them out, but you will be missing out on excellent tasting guacamole.

SPICY GUACAMOLE STUFFED AVOCADO PARTY APPETIZER -This Guacamole includes chopped jalapenos for a little spice.  For a beautiful presentation and to prevent double dipping, it is served in the Avacado shell.

FIRST STEP:

Slice Avocados in half and remove the seed.  Save the Avocado shells.

TIP:

Use a large sharp knife and stick it in the avocado seed.  Gently twist the knife and pull the seed out.  Bang the blade and the seed on the cutting board. The seed will split open and release from the knife.

Another safe way to cut into an Avocado is to place the Avocado flat on a cutting board. Hold your hand flat on top of the Avocado and cut the Avacado in half all the way around it. Next, turn the Avacado where the cut is directly facing down on the cutting board and place your hand back on top of it. Make another cut all the way around it. Remove your hand. You should have four equal pieces. Slightly twist, and all of the pieces should come off.

SECOND STEP:

Use a spoon and scrape out all the Avocado.

THIRD STEP: Mix Everything Up

  • Place the Avocado in a bowl and mix up with a fork.
  • Stir in the cilantro, garlic, Jalapenos, onion, lime juice, black pepper, salt, and cumin.
  • Mix well.
  • Optional: Add chopped tomatoes.

FOURTH STEP:  Back Into The Avacado

  • Place the Guacamole back into the six Avocado halves.
  • Serve with chips.

Ripening Avocados

Avocados have a small window of time they are ripe.  Only one thing matters when ripening an Avacado, the temperature where the Avocados are stored.

At room temperature, very hard Avocados ripen within two days.  Once they ripen, they will last two days if kept at room temperature.  However, if you store them in the refrigerator, they will last five days before they overripen.

If you need to ripen Avocados quickly, keep them on the counter.  If you are trying to extend the shelf life, keep them in the refrigerator to ripen slowly.

Preparing Avacado for this Spicy Guacamole

  1. Cut around the Avacado lengthwise using a knife.
  2. Twist the Avacado open.
  3. Remove the large seed.
  4. Place the Avacado half on a dish towel or silicone mat and make crosshatch slices into the flesh.
  5. While holding the Avacado in your hand, use a spoon and insert it between the skin and flesh to separate the two.  Gently scoop out the Avacado cubes.

Ingredients

  • 3 Avocados sliced in half and Avacado removed from shell
  • 2 tablespoons cilantro chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 tablespoon minced Jalapeno peppers 2 if you like your food spicy
  • 1/2 small onion minced
  • 1-1/2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 teaspoons cumin

Instructions

  • Slice Avocados in half and remove the seed. Save the Avocado shells.
  • Use a spoon and scrape out all the Avocado and mix up with a fork.
  • Place the Avocado in a bowl.
  • Mix in the cilantro, garlic, Jalapenos, onion, lime juice, black pepper, salt, and cumin.
  • Mix well.
  • Place the Guacamole back into the six Avocado halves.
  • Serve with chips.
