Buttermilk Cornbread-Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup plain cornmeal not cornmeal mix
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 TB Vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups buttermilk
  • 2 beaten eggs beaten
  • 4 Tablespoons of butter melted in cast iron skillet

Instructions

  • Combine flour, cornmeal, salt, sugar, and baking powder.
  • Stir in buttermilk and oil.
  • Melt butter in cast iron skillet.
  • Bake in a cast iron skillet. I love my cast iron skillet and cornbread is delicious cooked in it.
  • Bake 375 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Add jalapeno or crumbled bacon to kick it up.
