Slow Cooker Cajun Smothered Steak

The flavor is amazing with the bell pepper, onions, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Lipton onion soup mix and Cajun Seasoning.

  • Salt and pepper the cube steak
  • Dip both sides in the flour and shake excess off
  • Heat a skillet with the vegetable oil.
  • Brown both sides of each piece of steak. You do not have to cook the meat until it is done. Just brown the outside.
  • Spray the slow cooker with a cooking spray.
  • Layer the sliced onions and bell pepper.
  • Layer the steak on top of the onions and bell pepper.
  • Mix the mushroom soup, onion soup mix, beef broth, Worcestershire, garlic powder, Cajun seasoning, and paprika.
  • Cook on low 6 to 8 hours.
  • Serve over rice or mashed potatoes.

Notes

Use a 6 or 7-quart slow cooker to make this smothered steak.
Do not simply season and flour the steak and toss it in the slow cooker.  I have tried it that way, and it works but browning the meat makes it so much better.
Be sure to mix the mushroom soup, onion soup mix, beef broth, Worcestershire, garlic powder, Cajun seasoning, and paprika together before adding it to the slow cooker.  The slow cooker is so full not everything will be seasoned well if you do not stir it together first.
